One day after news broke that Dia Art Foundation director Philippe Vergne was slated to be L.A. MOCA’s new director, this image was snapped of Vergne seen here with outgoing MOCA director Jeffrey Deitch at the Studio Museum in Harlem. The two must have been taking in a little theater, as Theaster Gates was performing his 2012 work “See, Sit, Sup, Sing: Holding Court” at the museum as part of its series “Radical Presence: Black Performance in Contemporary Art.” Adding further mystery to the image, Jewish Museum deputy director Jens Hoffmann, who took the pic, wrote, “History in the making Philip getting his first check from Jeffrey.” He later clarified, “Jeffry is donating $500 to LA MOCA.” Priceless.

High Line Art director Cecilia Alemani dropped in at Cheim & Read for the Lynda Benglis opening Thursday night.

Art Production Fund’s Yvonne Force Villareal captured artist Alex Katz’s muse, Ada Katz, in front of a work clearly inspired by her at the opening of Katz’s show at Gavin Brown Enterprise.

Art dealer Tim Blum (left) was in Tokyo last night for the opening of Blum & Poe artist Hugh Scott-Douglas’s show “Broken Mule,” at Takashi Murakami’s gallery Kaikai Kiki.

MoMA PS1 director Klaus Biesenbach posted this #TBT image from 1984, with the following text: “my best friend thomas and i, narziss and goldmund selfie.”

Here’s the scene at the opening of Retrospective, the new exhibition space by art dealers Zach Feuer and Joel Mesler in Hudson, New York. A lot more kid-friendly than your average gallery opening.
